After over 20 years of relying on alcohol to get me through life’s ups and downs, I finally reached rock bottom. It was time to change. I sought the support of my family GP and booked in a series of sessions with a psychotherapist to address the underlying issues. After several weeks, I felt ready to quit drinking altogether.  My psychotherapist asked whether I would be open to hypnotherapy? I had heard of the power of hypnotherapy on the subconscious mind but wasn’t entirely sure how, or even if, it worked.

At that point I felt had nothing to lose, so I booked myself in for an initial consultation. Within minutes of meeting Amelia, it felt like I was chatting with a friend and I was put completely at ease. She reassured me that my drinking problem would be an easy fix. I must admit, I was more than a little sceptical! But I committed myself to the process and took trust in Amelia’s confidence. Within a matter of 5-6 sessions, I walked out of her consultation room a different person. I now only drink 1-2 glasses of wine in social situations and never alone at home. I feel empowered, healthy and confident. Amelia has helped change my life and, in hindsight, I have to agree that it was actually really easy.

    Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state of profound relaxation that we encounter daily during moments such as falling asleep or waking up. Through hypnosis, individuals can learn to deliberately tap into this mindful state.   • What is The Duration of Each Session and the Interval between Sessions?
    Your initial phone call is 15 minutes and serves as a crucial starting point. This is where we delve into your initial questions and briefly explore the challenges you are facing. Moreover, it allows us to determine whether the therapist is indeed the perfect match for your needs. Following this call, you will embark on a comprehensive consultation that includes a Hypnosis session, typically lasting around 1.5 hours. Our subsequent hypnotherapy sessions usually extend to an hour each; however, our commitment lies in providing personalized attention for as long as necessary. We recommend weekly sessions to ensure a consistent journey towards achieving your desired outcomes; nevertheless, intervals of up to two weeks between sessions are also considered reasonable. For your convenience, all appointments can be easily booked online, offering you flexibility in managing any changes or rescheduling requirements that may arise. This streamlined process aims to support your progress effectively and ensure a seamless therapeutic experience.
  • How Many Sessions Will I Need?
    Typically, achieving desired results may require around three to six sessions, though individual needs vary and some individuals might require less or more sessions based on the specific issues they are facing. The number of sessions necessary will be determined during the comprehensive consultation. Online purchase options include packages consisting of either three or six sessions.
  • Can I Get Stuck in Hypnosis?
    It is a frequently asked question whether one can become "stuck in hypnosis." The answer is a straightforward: NO, it is not possible to be trapped in a hypnotic state. Individuals always retain control and can easily emerge from deep relaxation. Prior to commencing treatment with a new client, thorough discussions are held to address any queries or apprehensions, ensuring comfort and understanding. Transparency regarding what to anticipate is prioritized to enhance the overall experience for the individual.
  • Can Everyone Enter the State of Hypnosis?
    Yes, most people can enter a state of hypnosis, although the degree to which individuals can be hypnotized varies. Hypnosis is a state of focused attention, heightened suggestibility, and deep relaxation. Some people are more susceptible to hypnosis than others, which can be influenced by factors such as personality traits, willingness to participate, and the skill of the hypnotist. While nearly everyone can experience some level of hypnosis, the effectiveness and depth of the experience can differ. Certain individuals may find it easier to enter this state, while others may require more practice. It's also important to note that hypnosis is not a form of mind control; individuals retain control over their actions and can choose to reject suggestions that they do not agree with.
  • What Conditions are Not Ideal for Hypnosis?
    There are several conditions and factors that can make hypnosis less effective or difficult to achieve. Here are some situations that are not ideal for hypnosis: Distracting Environment: A noisy or chaotic environment can hinder the ability to focus and relax, making it difficult to enter a hypnotic state. Lack of Willingness: Hypnosis requires a certain level of willingness and openness to the process. If a person is sceptical or resistant, it can impede their ability to enter hypnosis. Substance Use: The use of drugs or alcohol can impair cognitive function and concentration, making it harder to achieve a hypnotic state. Mental Health Issues: Certain mental health conditions, such as severe anxiety disorders, psychosis, or certain personality disorders, may complicate or contraindicate the use of hypnosis. Medical Conditions: Some medical conditions, particularly those affecting cognitive function or awareness, may not be conducive to hypnosis. Incompatibility with Hypnotist: The rapport between the hypnotist and the subject is crucial. If the individual does not feel comfortable or trusting of the hypnotist, it can hinder the process. In general, a calm, supportive environment, along with a willingness to engage in the process, tends to create the best conditions for hypnosis.

  • Where Do You Practice From?
    I provide a secure, professional, and inviting environment located on Edith Street in Wynnum. It is essential for clients to feel safe in the therapeutic space, as this allows them to relax and truly be at ease.
  • Are You Covered By Health Insurance?
    Insurance providers often exclude coverage for hypnosis as a standalone treatment, but they may offer coverage for therapy incorporating hypnosis. Medicare provides coverage for "hypnotherapy" in specific cases.
  • Do I Need A Referral From My Doctor?
    Referrals from a Doctor are not necessary to access Hypnosis services. Nevertheless, it's highly advisable to discuss your choice to explore Hypnosis with your doctor and obtain their insights, particularly if you have pre-existing medical conditions. Notably, most of my clients are referred by satisfied individuals who recommend my services based on their positive experiences.
